But beware of a frequent confusion: digitalisation is not transformation. Digitising an inefficient process just means going faster in the wrong direction. The real breakthrough is the ability to leverage what you already know — not to generate more data.
Experience as a competitive advantage
In complex industrial environments, the difficulty is not the lack of data. It lies in the ability to mobilise existing experience at the right time.
When history is scattered across files, tools, and teams, analyses start from scratch, errors repeat, and decisions rely on individual memory. This knowledge leaves with the teams when they change roles. It does not withstand ramp-ups, new sites, or new recruits.

To steer quality as a business lever, a few indicators make the difference: defect rate, cost of non-quality, lead time to process non-conformities, recurrence rate, mean time to investigate. Not to fill dashboards, but so that these numbers directly influence operational trade-offs.
The pragmatic path to get there is always the same: identify high-impact economic areas, structure and centralise existing data, quickly measure gains, and gradually scale up what works. The goal is not to transform everything immediately. It is to create a measurable and sustainable momentum.

Industrial quality is no longer a control mechanism at the end of the line. It has become a decision-making tool, a leverage for competitiveness, a factor for managing risks.
