The buried intelligence of quality data in French industry

The intelligence embedded in quality data is the secret to accelerated and optimised decision-making for the French manufacturing sector. It is time to capitalise on it.

French industry has an intelligence buried in its quality data. Here is why it is not exploiting it yet.

France is the third largest world-class research country in artificial intelligence. And yet, only 10% of French companies use AI, below the European average, very far behind the Scandinavian pioneers.

In industry, the paradox is even more striking. Companies know that quality is the right use case for AI. But only 18% of them use it for anomaly detection in their data, compared to 44% for much more basic uses.

Why such a gap between conviction and taking action?

The data exists but it does not speak.

In every industrial organisation, the quality history is there. Years of processed non-conformities, root-cause analyses conducted, documented action plans. Thousands of decisions made by experienced engineers, tracked somewhere in a system.

But this history is mute. Scattered between ERPs, Excel files, local databases that do not communicate with each other. Written in natural language that traditional tools do not know how to read. Accessible only to those who know where to look and who have the time to do so.

Result: the same non-conformities reappear from one site to another. The same analyses are redone from scratch. The same mistakes are repeated, because the solution found three years ago was never shared.

It is not a skills problem, it is a tool problem.

Quality teams do not lack expertise. What they lack is the ability to access the collective intelligence of their organisation when they need it, which is now, faced with a defect, under production pressure.

An experienced engineer does this work intuitively. He remembers a similar case, he knows who to ask, he has the network to find the information. But this intelligence cannot remain personal. It does not survive team changes, ramp-ups, or new sites.

To be a competitive advantage, it must become organisational.

Quality data as a strategic resource

This is the shift in perspective that French industry needs to make. Quality data is not a by-product of the process, it is a strategic resource. Every well-documented non-conformity, every well-capitalised analysis, is knowledge that can speed up decision-making tomorrow.

Organisations that make this leap, that transform their quality history into a living knowledge base accessible to all teams, gain a structural head start. They decide faster, correct sooner, and learn faster than their competitors.

It is precisely to unlock this intelligence that we built Yxir. Not by adding a layer of AI to existing software, but by starting with AI to make the data that industry already possesses speak.

The intelligence is there, it is time to get it flowing.
