Ramp-up: when quality becomes the real bottleneck
The French aerospace industry has never had so many orders. Order books full for ten years, export contracts lining up, global demand validating the strength of our defence industry. On paper, it's a victory.
But behind the announcements, Quality and Engineering Directors know what this growth really implies.
Ramping up is first and foremost a quality problem
When a production line accelerates, the first challenge is not mechanical. It is human. Integrating hundreds of new employees in a short space of time means introducing heterogeneity into practices that, until then, had been built up slowly, through experience and transmission.
An experienced operator knows how to spot a non-conformance. They have in mind similar cases they have dealt with, the decisions that were made, the mistakes not to be repeated.
